Nibel, a constant and credible breaking video game leaks and information, confirmed their departure from Twitter and Patreon. The video game personality revealed that they will no longer cover the gaming industry on either platform. In a Patreon post (via ResetEra), Nibel revealed they couldn’t create a revenue stream for themselves and that they found that the value of their work was more tied to social media as opposed to their individual effort. Furthermore, they cited Elon Musk’s recent takeover of Twitter as a reason for their departure, saying: With nearly half a million followers amassed over more than a decade, Nibel has established a solid reputation in the video game industry. Nibel’s uncanny ability to provide information in and out of the gaming industry was unparalleled. But, his popularity hasn’t come without detractors and impersonators recently tried to jump on their success. Case in point, a high-profile fake last year led people to believe that they’d reported on a Bloodborne remaster, among others. Nibel’s identity remains a mystery after all these years. Yet, despite the lack of a face, their impact on game media is hard to deny. Their efforts were a huge part of several breaking stories. Nibel’s departure creates a power vacuum that will take a long time to be filled if ever. Speaking of video game industry insiders, a leaker admitted to breaking confidential intel under a false name in September.
